Over the weekend I’ve really been working on being patient. I know that patience is a little hard to come by in today’s climate but it’s something that I’ve struggled with for so long. It’s not that I don’t want to or it’s hard to do, but I just can’t quite get there yet. There’s always something that comes up that I don’t think is as important to work on, and sometimes those things can get right in the way.

Yesterday, when I had that conversation with Sam Rockwell about the late Garry Shandling I realized that I’ve been trying to write songs for people I haven’t had much success with in the past. When I first began to sing, people were much more open to hearing me sing. I may have been only 12 but I already understood that in the beginning it was about being true to yourself and doing what you want to do. When I got to doing what I loved and was good at then it brought in a lot of fans. Right now, though, I am just too frustrated with everything right now to write anything that feels right. I am determined to take a break though and go through my notes and try to hone something that I can finally be proud of.

On Saturday night I stopped working on demos because I had just come home from The Runaways show. I really appreciated getting to see one of my favorite bands in the past few years perform and it was a pleasure to see the respect they have for the fans that showed up to see them. Their well-produced and well-written songs really helped to show me where I could take the songs I’m writing now. At the same time, I was talking with someone who works for
